Pokemon Rise Gimmicks
Pokemon rise has its very own gimmicks, for example the typing of a pokemon move, only matter for Same Type Attack Bonus or STAB for short. a move of the same typing of an pokemon will deal more DMG. However in rise moves are NOT taken into consideration when it come to immunities, resistances and super effectives. Only POKEMON typing is taken into consideration. What do that mean? Simply. If a pokemon is purely electric types. and then face a pure water type, the electric pokemon will deal super effective damage. however if Instead. the pokemon has a Double typing. and the first typing is NOT water. then the pure electric type will not deal super effective dmg. in fact. an excadrill in pokemon rise is GROUND/STEEL. meaning that a pure fire type, or pokemon whose primary typing is fire would take super effective damage from excadrill. while if its instead Fire second, Excadrill will take super effective dmg. assusming the primary typing is not weak to ground.
Imunities
Imunities in rise are a bit different, but follow a similar format to the previous section. If we take A pokemon with a primary ground typing, vs a primary flying. the ground type will NOT be able to touch the flying type NO matter which moves it use. in a similar fashion. Ghost vs normal cannot hurt each others. in that case during tournaments if a ghost face a normal type. both trainers are allowed to choose a different pokemon that are NEUTRAL to each other.
Moves Gimmicks
A lot of moves have gimmicks. And that also the case in rise, Because i want you guy to understand BETTER. i decided to separate the moves gimmicks in different sections.
(NOTE: The moves listed in this list are only a few examples of gimmicky moves.)
Flinch Moves
Flinch moves are moves that have a small chance to flinch. it vary from 10% to 30%., One of most common is Air slash. it has 75 base power its a special move and it has 30% chance to flinch. togekiss users love it.
Iron head also has a 30% chance to flinch, its a physical steel type move and it has 80 base power. it is common for scizor to spam iron head due to having no drawbacks, and its boosted by STAB.
Paralysis Moves
Discharge
is a special electric type move with 80 base power and a 30% chance of paralysis. it is commonly used by special electric types (Assuming they can learn it) as it has GOod power and a Really nice gimmick.
Similarly. Thunderbolt Has A 10% chance to paralyse But has 95 base power.
Burn Moves
Flamethrower
Is a special fire type move with 90 base power and a 10% chance to burn it's commonly spammed by special fire types that dont have access to overheat. (For more informations about overheat and other moves with similarities Read the ''Difference Between Console And Rise'' Section) Alternatively, Lava plume has a 30% chance to burn but has 80 base power. it is also a special fire move.
Difference Between Console And Rise
Some Moves work differently in official Games than it do in rise. Overheat for example has 130 base power and lower your special atk every use. But that's not the case for rise. in fact it has 130 base power. it's still a special type fire move. but it DO NOT lower your special attack. or any stats for that matter. stats rising and stats lowering moves in rise DO NOT work/exist. recoil or charge moves are also not a thing. so what do that mean? moves with secondary effect that deal recoil damage, that require charging, or lower/increase your stats will still deal Dmg but will not trigger these type of effects. if moves usually deal no damage but have the sole purpose of raising/lowering stats. then those moves wont work. alternatively moves who usually doesn't check accuracy will alway miss in rise.
Fake out almost alway flinch and is usually banned from tournaments. so are moves like nuzzle. And moves that inflict statut effects in general are banned. only way you can trigger a statut effect while remaining legit. *Assuming you participate in tournaments* Are by using moves with secondary effect that inflict burn, freeze. paralysis. confusion etc
What Can Statut Effects Do?
freeze
will make it so the frozen pokemon is just. not allowed to move Until the freeze wear off. Confusion has a small chance to make the affected pokemon Attack itself. every turns. paralysis has a small chance to force a pokemon to 'stay still. just like with confusion Random number are generated every turns meaning you have a chance to get fully paralysed every turns. until the paralysis wear off or until you faint. Burn Deal damage every turn. however it do not Halve attack as far as i know. Because rise is different :D (Poison) poison deal damage over time. just like it do in the original game. however toxic dmg will not increase no matter how long the pokemon remain poisoned.
Similarly. Moves that flinch an pokemon will also stop the targeted pokemon from moving until its next turn. unless it of course, get flinched again.
High Roll Low Roll
ah now we get into the more technical stuff..every time you use a move that deal damage. Random numbers are generated. The game also check and take into consideration the offensive stat of a pokemon. it check weither the move used is physical or special. and thus Apply Either The ATtack stats. Or the special attack stat. (attack for physical moves special atk for special moves) And Take into consideration weither a move is STAB or not. Then It Apply the DMG To the enemy pokemon. All of this is done incredibly quickly. however a move Will not ALWAY deal the same damage. And that also the case for the OFFICIAL pokemon games. Random numbers are generated every turns thank to the RNG (Random number generator) . let's imagine a wheel. the game spin the wheel. if the wheel stop spinning On a certain spot. its a high roll. otherwise. its a low roll. Low roll deal lower damage. high roll deal higner damage. it's all Maths! :D
Safe and Unsafe AOE
Safe AOES are moves that target and hit multiple targets without damaging your own team. There is a building in pokemon rise called Battle hall which allow you to battle other players. Strangely. SAFE AOE'S do not work inside the battle hall. moves like blizzard. Rock slide. Heat wave. etc do not work inside the battle hall. However Unsafe AOES do. For Your information, Unsafe AOE'S Are moves that hit everything in its way. Including you and other players pokemons. Those moves work perfectly fine inside the battle hall. so if your pokemon have a Safe AOE. its perfect for training. but inside the battle hall. use a different move! (An example of unsafe aoe: Earthquake)
Draining And Healing Moves
Moves that drain HP work perfectly fine in pokemon rise. So moves like giga drain draining kiss and leech life work just well. alternatively drain punch also work. however moves that recover health doesn't work. recover wish healing wish softboiled and any moves of these kinds just doesn't work.
How To Build A Team
Alright this is not a popular opinion. many players just spam Dragons (Assuming the dragon type in question is allowed) and other Top Threats and call it a team. yet when these type of players come into battle against me, Their whole teams fall appart, simply because im well prepared to counter a good part of the meta game just because of the type coverage in my teams. And so i'm going to explain A few different ways to build a team
More Coming Soon
