add some bosses that has 20% of chance of appearing in a tile, and when killed theat they drop some stuffs like gold, or money, or mega stones...

a system similar to server spawns that would generate 'raid bosses' (increased sprite sizes, massive hp pool, nigh-impossible for a single trainer to defeat) was tested long long ago, but for obvious reasons is currently way away on the back burner.
